This one had two big upgrades going on at the same time - a full roof replacement up top and a two-story Trex deck with an aluminum roof out back. When a homeowner is ready to invest in their home like that, we want to make sure every piece of it is done right. No shortcuts, no rushed work.

For the roof, we went with Owens Corning Duration shingles in Williamsburg Gray. It's a color that works well with just about any exterior - not too dark, not too light. Duration shingles are a step above standard 3-tab in terms of thickness and wind resistance, and the dimensional texture gives the roof a finished, solid look that holds up over time. Before any shingle goes down, we lay proper underlayment across the entire deck. That layer is what keeps water out if a shingle ever gets compromised, and it's something you never see once the job is done - but it matters a lot.

The ridge lines came out clean and the layout is consistent across every slope and plane of the roof. On a home with this much roof geometry - multiple intersecting pitches and valleys - getting the layout right takes real attention to detail. Sloppy shingle work shows up fast on a complex roofline like this one.

Out back, the two-story Trex deck with an aluminum roof ties the whole package together. Trex composite decking holds up without the maintenance headaches of wood - no sealing, no splintering, no rotting out in a few years. The aluminum roof over the deck means it's actually usable space when the weather gets unpredictable. Both upgrades together add real livable square footage to the property, inside and out.

This is what it looks like when a homeowner decides to do it all at once and do it right. A strong roof overhead, a solid deck out back, and quality materials throughout.
