A lot of homeowners have a deck they barely use. Not because they don't want to be outside - but because the bugs, the heat, and the sun make it more of a chore than a break. That was the situation here. A perfectly good elevated deck that just wasn't getting used the way it should.
We enclosed the space with a full aluminum screen system, added a gabled roof structure, and finished the floor with Trex decking in a picture frame border detail. The aluminum framing is dark and clean, and the screen panels run from the roofline all the way down - no gaps, no exposed openings. It's a tight enclosure that actually keeps bugs out.
The ceiling fan inside the porch is a nice touch too. Once you're screened in, a fan makes a huge difference in how comfortable the space feels even on a warm afternoon. Between the shade from the roof, the airflow, and the screen keeping everything out, this porch went from an afterthought to the best seat in the house.
The Trex picture frame finish on the floor is worth calling out specifically. It's a detail we use when a space needs to feel intentional and finished - not just functional. Trex holds up well in a screened environment, won't rot or splinter, and looks just as good years down the road as it does on day one.
If you've got a deck that's sitting underused, a screened enclosure is one of the better investments you can make in your outdoor space. It changes how you actually live in the home - not just how it looks from the outside.
